Webinars – Every Voice Matters – Using Communi-crate to Support Children’s Participation
We are hosting a series of webinars for practitioners introducing Communi-crate, a practical toolkit designed to support communication and meaningful participation for children and young people involved in the Children’s Hearings System.
Communi-crate brings together a range of communication tools and resources that can help create a more inclusive, child-centred and trauma-informed experience for children and young people.
During the webinar, participants will:
- Learn about the purpose and development of Communi-crate.
- Explore the communication tools and resources included in the toolkit.
- Gain practical guidance on how and when to use the resources.
- Consider how Communi-crate can support more inclusive, child-centred and trauma-informed practice.
- Hear examples of how the toolkit can help children and young people express their views and participate in decisions that affect them.
By the end of the session, participants will feel more confident in using Communi-crate to support meaningful participation and help ensure every child has the opportunity to be heard.
Who should attend?
This webinar is aimed at Panel Members and others involved in supporting children’s participation within the Hearings System such as advocacy workers and social workers.
Meet The Facilitators
Karen Garside, SCRA’s Corporate Parenting Manager
Karen leads SCRA’s Corporate Parenting work and trauma programme has been involved in a range of projects focused on improving participation and experiences for children and young people within the Children’s Hearings System.
Hayley Moroke, Highly Specialised Speech and Language Therapist
Hayley is passionate about helping children, young people and the professionals who support them. Through her own business, she delivers training on speech, language and communication needs and neurodivergence, and supports organisations to make their communications more accessible. Alongside this, she works in secure care and social work settings and regularly collaborates with SCRA to improve communication and accessibility. Her particular interests include trauma, neurodivergence and supporting children and young people in conflict with the law.
