Seeing Beyond The Surface in Fife
We were delighted to welcome Our Hearings, Our Voice (OHOV) to our Hearings centre in Glenrothes this week.
Board Member Ciara presented to a development session of the Fife Children’s Hearings Improvement Partnership (CHIP).
Joined by workers Amy and Gordon from OHOV, Ciara gave an input on the Seeing Beyond the Surface interactive guide.
The guide which is available on the OHOV website focuses on six themes – relationships, support, language, children’s potential, children’s information, and participation.
CHIP members also got to enjoy some art work which has been created by the OHOV Board Members.
Karen Garside, SCRA’s Corporate Parenting Manager said: “I was incredibly moved by the passion and dedication of the OHOV Board Members at the Rise Up event in October 2025, which I was privileged to attend. I left that event with a commitment to share their powerful message with as many colleagues and partners as possible.
“Since then, Amy and I have been travelling across the country, visiting teams and delivering interactive workshops to raise awareness of the messages from young people captured in the Seeing Beyond the Surface guide.
“The Glenrothes team were so moved by the art work, they then had a brilliant and creative idea to bring the guide to life by developing a travelling art gallery and to deliver a similar workshop to the Fife CHIP, spreading the messages with our partners.
“Yesterday’s event and launch of the travelling art gallery not only highlights the lived experiences and voices of young people, but also serves as a meaningful way to celebrate and thank the OHOV Board Members for their incredible work in helping to transform the Children’s Hearings System.”
Carron Bell, SCRA’s Locality Support Manager in Fife said: “The session was an excellent opportunity to learn the views of young people, who have experience of Children’s Hearings, on what matters to them.
“The guide is such an incredibly powerful resource to help focus our work on what really matters and so the opportunity to share it with partners was fantastic.
“It was very special to see and hear how everyone in the room had been inspired and motivated by what we had been seeing and hearing and I am really excited to see where we can go with making things better as a result.”
OHOV is an independent board of children and young people with experience of the Hearings System. SCRA is proud to host OHOV on behalf of the national Children’s Hearings Improvement Partnership. Find out more about the work of OHOV on their website.
