Volunteers wanted to help test new audio technology
We are inviting visitors to our Children’s Hearings Centre in Glasgow to help us test out new audio technology.
We are very keen to hear from visitors who are deaf or have hearing loss, use a hearing aid or cochlear implant. We are keen for you to be part of testing some new audio technology.
Auracast has been installed in one of our Hearing rooms in Bell Street, Glasgow as part of our Hearing Room Improvement Project.
Auracast is an emerging feature of Bluetooth technology that could transform how people hear sound in everyday life. It allows audio to be broadcast from a single source directly to multiple devices at once – including hearing aids, cochlear implants, headphones and smartphones – without the need for traditional pairing.
To date we only have this technology in Glasgow, but would really like to make this available throughout our estate. However, to do this we need feedback on how well this works in the Children’s Hearings environment.
This means clearer, more direct sound in environments where hearing can be particularly challenging.
Volunteers can help us by:
- Trying out the technology
- Sharing feedback on sound quality and usability
- Highlighting barriers or accessibility challenges
- Feedback on what else we could do in our Hearing Suites for visitors with a hearing impairment
If you are interested in testing Auracast out, please email SCRA’s Business Development and Improvement Team.
