We are delighted to announce that we have achieved LGBT Youth Scotland’s Charter.

This is the second time SCRA has achieved LGBT Youth Scotland’s Charter – we originally achieved it in December 2019.

The organisation’s LGBTQ+ group worked towards the Foundation level of the Charter over the past year.

A key part of our Charter journey was training and awareness raising for staff. In addition, there was a focus on ensuring our policies, practice and resources were not only meeting legislative needs, but were as inclusive as possible.

In addition, we carried out consultation sessions with Hearings-experienced young people and held an online survey for LGBT staff.

SCRA’s Inclusion and Diversity Manager Sarah Wood said: “We are delighted to achieve the Youth Charter and we would like to thank all our Inclusion Ambassadors. They worked extremely hard over the past year and beyond to ensure our organisation is a champion of LGBT inclusivity.

“We hope achieving the Charter again sends out a strong message that LGBT staff, young people, their families and our partners in the Hearings System, will be safe, supported and included.”
