Learning Review
Following publication of a Learning Review in Glasgow, Neil Hunter, SCRA’s Principal Reporter/Chief Executive has said: “SCRA has been fully involved in this learning review, and we acknowledge and support the review’s findings.
“The review identifies learning for all of us. I am very clear that whilst this particular review focusses on the city of Glasgow, its findings and recommendations are applicable to the whole of SCRA’s work across Scotland.
“Acute and significant harm to children, and the impact of neglect are issues that all of our Children’s Reporters and other staff face every day in performing their statutory roles, and there is no part of Scotland that does not face these issues.
“As Principal Reporter, I want to have assurance and be able to assure others that we have taken deep cognisance of this learning review across SCRA in our practice, our policies, our culture and our supporting processes.
“As a result, I have asked one of our senior operational managers to form an internal core group, drawing from experience and expertise across SCRA to ensure that we can demonstrably show progress on the recommendations of this profound learning review. This group has been established and work is well underway.”
Neil added: “SCRA is committed to working with our partner agencies to help provide the best possible outcomes, and further improve the support given to children and young people in Glasgow and across Scotland.”
“Finally, and most importantly, our thoughts are with the children whose lives have been so profoundly affected by this.”
