From sloths to monsters, there’s some new furry friends in our Hearing centres!

To mark World Autism Acceptance Month during April, SCRA’s Neurodiversity Champions have been sharing the most popular sensory toys.

The Champions are staff members in a wide range of roles within SCRA who have a specialist interest in Neurodiversity. Many staff members are Neurodiverse themselves and/or have Neurodiverse relatives, friends or colleagues.

They all share the same passion to improve our services for children, young people, their families and everyone who comes into our Hearing centres and offices.

Sid and Seth the weighted sensory sloths are going down a storm in our Hearing centre in Hamilton, while Dino the Dinosaur is the new sensory sensation in Paisley’s Hearing centre.

Meanwhile, in Glasgow a colourful furry friend the ‘worry monster’ is helping children write down how they are feeling about their Hearing.

Jennifer Orren, who chairs SCRA’s Neurodiversity Champions Network said: “If you have an idea for a sensory toy in your Hearing centre, please get in touch. We would love to hear from you.”
