SCRA has successfully achieved the LGBT Youth Scotland Charter.

The organisation’s LGBT sub group worked towards the Foundation level of the Charter over the past year.

A key part of our Charter journey was training and awareness raising for staff. In addition, there was a focus on ensuring our policies, practice and resources were not only meeting legislative needs, but were as inclusive as possible.

In addition, we carried out consultation sessions with Hearings-experienced young people and held a workshop with staff and issued an online survey for LGBT staff.

SCRA’s Principal Reporter/Chief Executive Officer, Neil Hunter said: “We are delighted to achieve the Youth Charter and we would like to thank LGBT Youth Scotland for all their support during our Charter journey.

“Our Inclusion Ambassadors worked extremely hard over the past year to ensure our organisation is a champion of LGBT inclusivity. I would like to thank them for all their hard work and commitment.

“We hope achieving the Charter sends out a strong message that LGBT staff, young people, their families and our partners in the Hearings System, will be safe, supported and included.”
