Work has got underway in SCRA to obtain the LGBT Youth Scotland Charter.

The aim of the charter is to ensure organisations like SCRA proactively include LGBT people in every aspect of our work. The work to achieve the charter is being led by a small group of staff from SCRA offices across the country who recently volunteered to become LGBT Ambassadors.

Karen Wallace, SCRA’s Equalities and Inclusion lead, said: “We are really excited to be starting on our charter journey.

“We are continually looking to improve our services to children, young people, their families, our partners and our staff.

“It will be a significant accomplishment to achieve the charter and we look forward to working with LGBT Youth Scotland as we develop our action plan.”

SCRA will be creating an action plan for the next 12 months, focusing on a number of key areas, including: LGBT awareness training for staff, reviewing our policies to ensure they meet the standards set out in the Equality Act (2010) and the Human Rights Act (1998) and improving our equality and diversity workforce monitoring with a campaign being launched later this year.
