You spoke and we listened! Thanks to feedback and the involvement of Hearings-experienced young people, a number of new look Hearing rooms have been unveiled.

SCRA has developed five improved Hearing rooms in Dumbarton, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Glenrothes and Greenock.

This is the latest round of improvements to make our Hearing rooms more warm, welcoming and child/young person friendly.

Hearings-experienced young people worked with Children’s Reporters, other SCRA staff and expert interior designers to develop three looks. Locations were asked to choose one option from the three choices.

Large corporate tables and old furnishings have been removed, calming colours and tones were chosen, along with a variety of seating options including sofas and comfy chairs. New toys and play areas have been added to the rooms for younger children.

Chelsee and Sophie, two of the young people involved with the project are delighted to see this new phase of improvement in action. Chelsee said:  It’s brilliant to see the project actually happening and being implemented after all of the planning and consultation. Children and young people will definitely feel more comfortable in these new environments.”

Sophie said: “Young people in care are so often consulted, but sometimes it feels like nothing much seems to comes from it – so it’s great to see children and young people really being listened to.”

More improvements will continue to take place later this year, led again by Hearings-experienced young people. Watch this space for more information!
