SCRA’s Official Statistics 2015/16
Our Official Statistics 2015/16 have been published today, Thursday 28 July 2016.

The statistics show that in 2015/16, 15,329 children and young people in Scotland were referred to the Children’s Reporter:
▪ 13,688 on non-offence (care and protection) grounds
▪ 2,761 on offence grounds
The figure 15,329 represents 1.7% of all children and young people in Scotland. Within this, 1.5% of all children and young people were referred on care and protection grounds and 0.6% of all children and young people aged between eight and 16 years were referred on offence grounds.
In 2015/16, the number of children and young people with Child Protection Orders (CPOs) received dropped significantly to 595 from 754 the previous year. Of the 595, 24.9% were for children aged under 20 days.
In 2015/16, 3,185 children and young people had a new Compulsory Supervision Order (CSO) made on grounds referred, with 10,379 children and young people subject to CSOs at 31 March 2016. This amounts to 1.1% of all children and young people in Scotland.
