Friday 26 June 2009
The Scottish Government has today, Friday 26 June 2009, published its draft Children’s Hearings (Scotland) Bill.
SCRA is currently reviewing the detail of the draft Bill.
Speaking after the announcement, Netta Maciver, Principal Reporter/Chief Executive of the Scottish Children’s Reporter Administration (SCRA) said:
“SCRA has been anticipating the publication of the draft Children’s Hearings (Scotland) Bill. We will now be examining the details thoroughly, and we will be engaging with our staff and partners to consider this working draft of the Bill.
We will do everything in our power to develop the draft, so that we can all have a shared confidence, come the autumn, that the proposed changes will bring about improved outcomes for Scotland’s vulnerable children and young people.”
Douglas Bulloch, SCRA’s Chair added:
“The Board of SCRA will work with the Scottish Government and our partners in the Children’s Hearings System to ensure that this draft Bill is developed over the coming months to ensure it does improve delivery of service and outcomes for children and young people.”
