New information material for children and young people

A second batch of new information materials for children and young people as been launched by SCRA.

The new materials have been developed by SCRA’s Individual Participation in Hearings Group, in conjunction with SCRA’s Modern Apprentices and the Press and Communications team.

The aim has been to introduce creative ways of engaging children and young people in their Hearings. This is the second batch of new information materials developed by SCRA. The first batch was launched in September 2011 and included an information DVD which was made by Young Scot.

This new suite of materials includes:

Supervision Requirement leaflet - This leaflet provides information for children and young people when a Supervision Requirement has been made at a Children's Hearing.

Secure Accommodation flyer - This is an A5 flyer which explains what a condition of Secure Accommodation means for a young person.

Going to Court flyer - This is an A5 flyer which is now available in Hearing waiting rooms. It can also be sent to children and young people on request. This provides information about Children’s Hearings court proceedings and where to get more information.

Your Rights cube - This is a fun game aimed at young people waiting for their Hearing. It provides some basic information about their rights.

Colouring in book - The Chloe and Billy story book is now available as a colouring in book in waiting rooms for young children to colour in before their Hearing.

Cartoon poster - The story of Chloe and Billy attending a Hearing has also been turned into a colourful poster.
