Jimmy's Story
Jimmy is eleven years old and lives at home with his mum and dad. He had been very badly behaved at home for a few months losing his temper very easily and shouting a lot at his mum and dad. He had also been lying to his mum and dad and taken money out of his mum’s purse without asking. His mum and dad had grounded him to stop him from going out and playing with his friends but he had been sneaking out of the house anyway.
One night when Jimmy should have been at home he was actually out with his friends. A group of them were throwing stones at a house where an old man lives and they broke two of his windows.
The police caught Jimmy and two of his pals. The police took Jimmy home to his parents who were very upset. The police contacted SCRA to let them know about this.
After this, Jimmy received a letter from SCRA asking him to go to a Hearing. Jimmy went to the Hearing with his mum and dad and admitted that he had thrown stones at the old man's house and had been behaving badly at home. The Panel Members asked Jimmy why he had been behaving so badly, he said it was because he was bored and had nothing to do.
Jimmy told the Panel Members that he had said sorry to the old man for breaking his windows and he felt really bad that he had scared him. Jimmy’s mum and dad said that he is now behaving much better at home. Jimmy has joined a football team and trains with them twice a week and plays a game with them every weekend.
The Panel Members decided that Jimmy did not need to come back to another Hearing because he was now behaving better and not getting into any more trouble with the police.
