On Friday 27th April, the Scottish Government announced plans to extend the timetable for full implementation of the reforms to the Children’s Hearings System until the second quarter of 2013.

SCRA is fully supportive of this decision, which will allow additional time for all partners to ensure that the planned reforms to the Hearings System can be delivered successfully.

We recognise the significant progress that has been made up to this point, but welcome the Minister’s willingness to listen to the views of those on the ground and ensure we are able to get things right.

SCRA remains absolutely committed to working with the Scottish Government to deliver improvements in the Hearings system of the highest quality on behalf of children and young people.

As we go forward, we will continue discussions with the Scottish Government and our partners in the Hearings System, and our own internal programme of training for staff will continue.
